4-to-1 Curling Camps
Today, 4-to-1 Curling Camps are smartCurling's principal coaching
activity. A 4-to-1
Curling Camp consists of 4 athletes from one team and 1
smartCurling-appointed coach. Curling Camps are open to any
teams striving to play better curling, either nationally or
internationally. That means that our target customers
are performance women's or men's curling teams, competing in
National Championships, European Championships, World
Championships and the Olympic Games.
Instruction during the 4-to-1 Curling Camp will
be provided by Brian Gray,
a highly-qualified international coach with over 4'000 hours of coaching
experience. Brian has gained his unique experience by working
with over 30 teams from nations such as Switzerland, Italy,
Latvia, Estonia, Russia and Spain. The Olympic Women's Silver
Medal won in Salt Lake City in 2002 was won by a team that had
worked with Brian Gray for over 1500 hours in an 18-month
period.
smartCurling
will hold
several 4-to-1 Curling Camps in Riga
and Adelboden in 2012. During such a 4-to-1 Curling Camp, topics
such as planning,
training, competition, technique, strategy, ice-reading,
communication, vocabulary and team dynamics are discussed in
detail, on-ice and off-ice, with the performance team.
A smartCurling 4-to-1 Curling Camp normally lasts 7 days, including
2 travel days. In Riga, this will mean arriving on
Sunday and departing on Sunday. In Adelboden, this will mean
arriving on
Saturday and departing on Saturday. This leaves 6 days at the smartCurling
location, of which there will be 5 training days and 1 free day
(mid-week).
The programme for the 4-to-1 Curling Camp is co-defined in advance
by smartCurling and the performance team.
